Management Team

Michael Platt

Chief Executive Officer

Michael Platt joined Carma in December 2018. Michael is a former management consultant and corporate tax lawyer who specialized in the utilities and energy industries. Prior to joining Carma, Michael was the Principal at Adelaide Capital Investments, a Manager at Monitor Deloitte (an international management consulting firm), and a corporate tax lawyer at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP (a national law firm).

Jordan Hamilton

Vice-Presidential, Quality and Innovation, P.Phys.

Jordan is a Professional Physicist with 25 years of experience in the sub-metering and utilities distribution industries (including 20 years at CARMA). Jordan leads CARMA’S product design, regulatory compliance, technical team, and training and is also a resource to CARMA’s sales, billing and technical teams. As VP-Quality and Innovation, Jordan is also CARMA’s Management Representative to Measurement Canada and Quality Program Manager for CARMA’s ISO-9001 and Measurement Canada accreditations. During the past 20 years, Jordan had developed an extensive knowledge of meter design, technology and, regulatory requirements. Recently, in 2018, Jordan received the designation of MEARIE Journeyperson Electricity Meter Technician (representing VIP Meter Services). Jordan also has a bachelor’s of education, with high school teachable subjects of physics and mathematics.

MELISSA Richards

VP of Finance

As a Commerce Accounting Major perusing a CPA designation, Melissa uses her 10 plus years of experience to oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure for Carma Corp. Since joining Carma three years ago she continues to develop, implement and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting, employee relations (hiring/terminating policies) and other corporate policies.

Fizal McDoom

National Project Manager

As Project Manager, Fizal is responsible for the day-to-day Operational and Technical aspects of Carma’s multiple small to large scale projects. He plans and co-ordinates the Electrical, Gas and Water sub-metering of New Condominiums, Residential Retrofit, Commercial Retail/High-Rise, School Boards, Colleges and Universities. Fizal has a diploma in Computer Programming and Operations along with a certificate in Treasury and Human Resources and 4th level CGA. Another element to him managing Carma Projects, is being responsible for 10 Sub-metering Technicians, 2 full-time electrical contracting companies and co-ordinate with City of Toronto, multiple electric utility companies and natural gas providers.

Rick Williams

Advisor, Past President, Investor

As Canada’s only National family owned and operated utility submetering and billing company, Rick had the foresight over 18 years ago to build Carma Corp., including 12 years fostering Carma Billing Services Inc. Before building the Carma brand, Rick had a 25 year career with Johnson Controls in the Systems and Services Division. His entrepreneurial spirit led Rick to spend 5 years developing a new Canadian Facilities Management Company, now owned and managed by Brookfield Management and 3 years developing another Canadian facilities management company, now known as SNC Lavalin O & M.
